Billy Holman

Billy Holman is a film and media freelancer and owner of the small, Pittsburgh-based company WolfGoat Media. While often working in the commercial realm, he prefers to exist in that space where cinematic storytelling meets social good – and if there’s a chance to be in the middle of a stream or hanging off a cliff with a camera, so much the better. Lighting, drone piloting, and camera operation are passions, but the greatest joy is found in sitting with an interviewee and exploring the emotional texture of a subject, the power and the struggle, the “why”. Producing and crafting a storyline that can make an impact by stirring emotion is a driving force.

From small local orgs to international clients functioning in Nepal and Guatemala, Billy has worked with Operation Walk, The Rukmini Foundation, The Environmental Defense Fund, Northside Christian Health Center, Mission of Mercy, The Lemieux Foundation, CBS Sports, Iron City Boulders, The American Camp Association, Walltopia, and The Pittsburgh Foundation.

The creative force behind Spannuth Armada: A Redemption Story, Billy is himself a lifelong climber and outdoor enthusiast. The opportunity to tell an emotional health story paired with a climbing mission – along with the chance to hike gear into the middle of West Virginia – was truly a dream come to life, and he’s excited for the next great outdoor project.

Billy’s roots are in theatre, with a degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and he still performs and MCs at times. The technical aspects of theatre and filmmaking have captivated him, from grip and lighting with Shadowlight to building out camera rigs and flying drones deep in mines, but at the end of the day, that sharing of humanity is what it is all built on.
